There's Nothing More Beautiful And Delicious Than Fresh Fruit!

Today, I ate my way through leftovers - braised lion’s mane mushrooms on sweet potato noodles with julienned carrot and cucumber for lunch and cassava orzo porridge with finely, chopped spinach topped with spicy fish sauce dressing and Asian baked eggplant salad for dinner.

I love cooking but it is LOVELY and necessary having days when I eat through leftovers.

Today I felt intense gratitude for all the farmer’s markets I walk to with my trolley throughout the week. They ensure I find organic and chemical-free produce. I know the farmers and sellers and I ask direct questions about how the fruit and vegetables are grown. I enjoy the availability of produce based on the seasons. Right now, in the midst of summer, everything is abundant but I particularly love the wide variety of fruits at this time of year. Peaches, nectarines, apricots,, cherries, plums, grapes, pink grapefruit, passionfruit, bananas, mangoes, berries, pears and apples to name just a few. Australians enjoy a plethora of fruit because of the diversity of our climates - tropical, sub-tropical and temperate! Every day, I give thanks! I travelled to London in 2018 in their summer and when I strolled through the farmer’s markets and saw the limited options, I really appreciated what we have here!

I adore fruit. It seems like Life’s gift to us. It is colourful, textured, beautiful shapes and sizes and each has its own unique, sweet, scrumptious taste! How good is that? Needless to say, I buy loads of fruit. I have a fruit smoothie every morning and I snack on fresh fruit if I feel like a little something throughout the day.

This afternoon, I sliced a couple of luscious, ripe yellow nectarines and a plum with a glowing, sweet red flesh for afternoon tea. Nothing tastes better!
